EFFECTIVE MEETINGS and facilitation skills - 2 DAYS

This course is relevant for Senior Managers | Middle Managers and Team Leaders

What makes your meetings efficient and productive?

Do we at times have meetings for meetings sakes?

Unproductive meetings happen when objectives are ill defined, preparation is inadequate, behaviour in the meeting is unproductive (or worse) and agreed actions insufficiently defined for follow up.

Some of the behavioural aspects in meetings that will create challenge can include:

  • One person who has the ability to “infect” others in the room with negativity

  • “Yes” people who will not really commit

  • Attendees not really listening and having their own meeting within yours

  • A high energy group that becomes difficult to control or a group where it feels like you are trying to get “blood out of stone” (quiet group / no real contribution)

This learning event will help to change / address all of that. It will show you how meetings (including virtual meetings using video / conference call) can be turned into a sensible investment of time. It provides step-by-step guidance on how to achieve effective results. Participants will learn how to plan and conduct a meeting, whether as chairperson or participating member.

The course will be highly interactive and allow Managers / Non managers to have hands on approach with practical exercises that reflect real world situations.  All techniques agreed will be transferable and user-friendly.

Module benefits will include:

  • Being able to clearly think through and prepare for meetings

  • Practical exercise to develop our facilitation skills and “crowd control”

  • Running effective meetings that achieve their purpose

  • Probing others for relevant information / Getting involvement

  • Getting decisions made with quality and efficiency

  • “Making it Difficult for unique personalities to be Difficult”

  • Video / conference call (best practice)

  • Increasing personal confidence when dealing with “Hijackers”
